Beginning beaders and those who have had trouble learning Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW) this class takes you through what to do after mastering that first cube. How do you know where to go next?!
This 1.5 hour bite-size lesson will walk you through thread direction, tension, and stitching a row of units in Cubic Right Angle Weave (CRAW).
CRAW is a dynamic stitch that is used in millions of bead weaving patterns, but it can be hard to see and understand without a set direction and some practice. Beaders should have a general understanding of how to bead with needle and thread, and be ready to take on a dimensional project. Bring your own materials. I recommend using 8/o Japanese seed beads when learning this stitch – they are easier to see and hold. Once you get comfortable with it, scale the shape down to 11/o’s.
This class goes through basic construction techniques and will get you more comfortable with CRAW. Use the row beaded spacers, sections between strung beads, and even dangles for earrings! The options are endless.
The pattern includes detailed color pages, full of illustrations, and step-by-step construction instructions to guide you through the project. Though the pattern is written for a beginning beader with limited knowledge of CRAW, it is the SECOND lesson in this series. You should be somewhat familiar with how to start CRAW by making the first cube with little to no instruction. We will go over it briefly in class.
You will need:
minimum 3 grams 8/o Seed beads and some 11/o seed beads for embellishment
8 lb Fireline
Clinics include a full-color PDF downloadable pattern and 1.5 hours of ZOOM instruction. Students must register for class to receive the pattern and ZOOM link. The pattern and supply list is available to you at time of registration, you must bring your own supplies to class (there are no kits available). ZOOM links are emailed to all registered participants 3 days before class. There are no refunds for missed classes as the pattern and materials list is immediately available.
